IWHR Pioneer Awards The Institute for Women’s Health Research is currently accepting proposals for the second annual IWHR Pioneer Award program. Four awards will be granted this year. Applicants should hold a faculty-level appointment at Northwestern University or be postdoctoral fellows in laboratories of tenure-line faculty members. Proposals must be directly relevant to women's health research and we encourage applications from those who wish to initiate a new women’s health research program. These awards are not designed to provide ongoing support for a long-term project, they are intended to assist in obtaining pilot data required for larger grant applications in women's health.
Application process:
Applicants will submit an electronic proposal that includes: (1) a title page (format provided); (2) a 1-2 page summary of their research plans and accomplishments, including a brief statement of how their research is relevant women’s health research; (3) an NIH-style biographical sketch; (4) a budget summary form (format provided), limited to $25,000. Each application will be sent to an independent committee who will evaluate the proposal, assign priority scores, and make recommendations to the IWHR Director. The IWHR Director will select the most meritorious projects based on the reviews, with consideration given to the relevance of the proposal to women’s health. Awardees will be required to cite the IWHR as a source of support at presentations and acknowledged in publications or grants resulting from their proposed research project. It is the responsibility of the awardee to notify the IWHR of these relevant activities. Awardees must submit a short progress report (1-2 paragraphs) in January following award notification and a final written report (2 pages) at termination of award money. Awards are renewable with priority given to new proposals.
